Donovan’s in South Norwalk

Thanks to our friends Mike and Dedee, we tried Donovan’s in South Norwalk. Frankly, until then, I had given up hope of ever finding good chowder in Connecticut except for at the Gris. We may have found the source of Lower Fairfield County chowder joy.

The kids went nuts. We went for brunch and thought we might as well try the chowder so we begrudgingly ordered a single cup.

Tasty perfect wonderful chowder!

ChowderBoy said it was almost as good as our gold standard. He thought it needed salt but that boy would salt a salt lick. He passed it to his sister who has been less than enthusiastic about chowder these days.

Before we knew it, she ate the rest of the bowl. And demanded more.

More please.

The official review is that it is the best we’ve had in Fairfield County. And one of the top 10 ever.

We have found our forever place for post-hike chowder and bloodies.

Oh yeah. The bloodies? Outstanding. Absolutely outstanding.

Bloody Awesome!

The brunch was fine too. The Eggs Benny were better than most places but not exceptional.

ChowderDad had shepherd pie with poached eggs and hollandaise. It was apparently just like good shepherds pie with extra calories.

But we will take it. We will take it for a great family bar for bloodies and chowder.
